The department of Industrial, Manufacturing and Energy Engineering is mandated to to develop market driven programmes in the broad field of Industrial, Manufacturing and Energy Engineering, train high quality graduates for industry, leadership and academia in this field and to carry out academic and developmental research and innovation in Industrial, Manufacturing and Energy Engineering.

Department of Building & Construction Engineering

The department of Building Construction and Engineering was established to:
i.Provide practical Education and Training skills which are responsive and relevant to Kenya’s Agricultural ,Industrial, Commercial and Economic needs
ii. Encourage self-employment while at the same time producing skilled craftsmen, technicians and Technologists for both formal and informal sectors
iii. To provide practical skills and attitudes which will lead to income generating activities in the urban and rural areas through self employment
iv. To provide increased training opportunities for the increasing number of school leavers to enable them to be self supporting.
Courses offered in the department to meet the above National goals include certificate course in Building construction and Engineering, Diploma in Building and civil engineering. Other Diplomas and Bsc program in construction, Architecture and Construction management, Quantities and Civil Engineering to commence soon

DIPLOMA AND CERTIFICATE COURSES

Certificate and Diploma in Building Construction and Engineering is intended to equip the trainees with technical and problem solving skills on which to build their analytical ability during the work experience. The trainees should be able to work safely, accurately and efficiently in any

building construction, road construction .Irrigation Engineering, earth works and works undersea. In addition, the course units will impart

general knowledge to enable trainee contribute positively to the society

General Objectives of the Courses

At the end of this course, the trainees should be able to:

i. Develop positive attitude toward practical work

ii. Communicate efficiently on matters related to the job and environment

iii. Apply appropriate construction techniques in Building and Civil Engineering projects

iv. Understand the role of Building construction techniques

v. Acquire skills required in problem solving involving design and construction

vi. Acquire knowledge required in management of construction works

DURATION OF THE COURSE

The course is designed to take duration of two years and two and a half years for diploma courses

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Trainees for this course should have any of the following minimum qualifications

CERTIFICATE COURSES

Minimum D+ in KCSE or Artisan Certificate from a recognized institution.

Course units:-Mathematics site and workshop management, Social Studies, Construction technology, Building practices, Technical drawing,

Communication skills, Entrepreneurship project and construction project

DIPLOMA COURSE

Have passes relevant craft course. Have passed KCSE certificate with an average grade of C- and a minimum of C- in the following subjects;English,Mathematics,Physical Science or Physics. Candidates with any of the following subject have an added advantage.

Chemistry, Art and design, Wood work, Building construction, drawing and design, Construction.

The Department agricultural of Engineering and Technology has the mandate to develop and offer tailor-made programmes in the fields of Agricultural Engineering and Food Processing. Currently, the Department is involved in training of courses in Agricultural Engineering, irrigation, Soil and Water Conservation, Surveying, Farm Structures. The department is also involved in community outreach through participation in Field days, Agricultural Shows, community based projects and Demonstrations
