Wi-Fi is a technology based on the IEEE 802.11 standards for transmission of data over a wireless medium. It is also a trademark of the Wi-Fi Alliance, which restricts the use of the term Wi-Fi Certified together with a special logo to products that successfully complete interoperability certification testing.
The Lecture focused on both the positives and the negatives of using Wi-Fi and how they affect our health and well-being. A study investigated the influence of electromagnetic fields, similar to that emitted by Wi-Fi system, on brain activity. The presence of radiation had no effect on the energies of
alpha and beta band of male subjects, while it reduced these energies of female subjects, resulting in significantly lower energies, as compared to those of males.
Wi-Fi is also considered to be a factor that could possibly lead to cancer, in the case of a 21-year-old woman who developed a tumor on her breast where she tucked her phone. The tumor turned out to be cancerous.
We are all encouraged to switch off Wi-Fi when not in use and reduce the usage of the same. Download Presentation
