- Post: Adjunct Lecturer
Duties and responsibilities of a Adjunct Lecturer:
- Be on duty for two to three days a week to provide thematic leadership within the department on matters pertaining to curriculum development and review, academic development and external linkages.
- Teach one unit relating to the department’s area of expertise.
- Offer mentorship to academic staff and students within the department.
- Offer guidance in the development and running of post graduate programs and research in one’s area of expertise.
- Guide, support and supervise post graduate students within the department as well as academic staff enrolled in PhD programs.

Specialization: Mechanical Engineering
Requirements for appointment.
For appointment to this position the candidate must:
- Have an earned Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited and recognized University.
- Be registered with the Engineers Board of Kenya and have a valid membership certificate.
- Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.
OR
- Have a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited and recognized University with at least three (3) years teaching experience at University level.

- Maintaining an updated inventory of consumables and non-consumables to ensure resources needed are well captured and accounted for.
- Ensuring that the laboratory equipment and reagents are maintained at good levels for the smooth learning throughout the year.
- Ensuring that the materials required in the laboratory requested at the right time through the senior technologist.
- Maintaining the laboratory equipment and records hence facilitating the training of the student attendance during practical sessions by the relevant lectures.
- Providing a conducive and safe working environment in the laboratory in conformity with the stipulated Occupational Health and Safety standards.
- Assisting in conducting practicals in relevant disciplines.
- Carrying out any other duties as assigned by the Principal Technologist.

Specialization: Chemistry
a) Duties and Responsibilities
- Working with Senior Technologist to conduct practical sessions in order to equip the students with practical skills in relevant disciplines.
- Carrying out relevant training and development activities to adapt to new and changing trends in the various academic disciplines.
- Providing technical support to staff, postgraduate and undergraduate students when required in the laboratory area to achieve a concussive learning and training experience.
- Providing support services to academic research innovations and departmental income generation as a means of generating income for the Institution.
- Making requisitions for purchases in a timely manner to facilitate efficient operations for laboratory through availability of materials.
Requirements for appointment.
For appointment to this position the candidate must:
- Must possess a Masters Degree in Chemistry or related field from an accredited and recognized institution.
OR
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field from an accredited and recognized institution with at least four (4) years working experience;
- Be a member of a relevant professional body.
- Have mastery of the concepts and principles of a specialist field, ability to manage other professionals or experts in this field.
- Be proficient in computer applications.
- Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.
Note:
- Appointment as an adjunct lecturer shall be for a period of up to two (2) years renewable on expiry of the term.
- The adjunct teaching member of staff shall be paid Kshs 110,000 per month and Kshs 20,000 as transport allowance (inclusive of tax) or as shall be determined by the University Council from time to time.
